The title pretty much sums up my knowledge of chickens...very little.
I bought 3 black sex link hens from a very nice older gentlemen in my area. He showed me all of his chickens, etc, and was very excited about all the exotic rare finds he could get from a hatchery.
Anyhoo, super sweet and he sold me 3 laying hens.
2 look exactly like sex-links. Black all over with golden coloring on their chests.
The 3rd looks like a barred rock with black and yellowish stripes, instead of my black/white BRs.
The 2 sexlinks have black legs. The "?" hen has yellow legs.
And they laid 3 eggs yesterday. 2 creamy tan eggs and 1 darkish brown egg. (picture of eggs in my avatar)
I do not care in the slightest if the 3rd isn't a sexlink, just curious. The owner thought it was an anomaly b/c only boy sexlinks are supposed to be cuckoo patterned.
