black snood

I have recently got 2 toms they are about a yr old.the 1 bird has some black on snood.i asked the guy I bought it from ,and he said it had gotten beat up.the pieces of puzzle aren't adding up..if anyone can help as to what this is I appreciate it.

It does look like wounded skin. Time will tell if it heals up or falls off. During Tom fights there's lots of snood pulling amongst other things.

I have seen similar looking snoods that resulted from two toms trying to fight through chicken wire.
