Black specks on comb

I noticed today that one of my girls has black specks on her comb. I tried to pick them off but they seem pretty stuck.Any idea what these are and if they're a bad thing?

I don't think that they represent any problem - may very well be pecks from flock mates. She appears to be in excellent physical condition.

That looks to be tiny insect bites or peck wounds that have drawn blood. You can compare peck marks to fowl pox here in pictures below, and in the link about pox:

That is SUPER helpful, Eggcessive! Mine doesn't look like fowl pox. It must be pecks. And thanks for saying she looks to be in excellent condition, Sourland. I like these girls
