black specks on roosters comb & waddle

I have noticed that my rooster is getting some small black specks on his comb and waddle. I recently sold 3 other roosters and before they left I noticed they also had some black spots. It almost looks like tar and very small ... does this sound normal?

Look close and see if it is tiny black mites or scabs.

If it IS a scab...what would it be from? I will look to see if there is any movement for mites but I really don't think so.

if you could post a picture that would help...if not...go to google and do an image search for fowl pox..

The viruses causing fowlpox are distinct from one another but antigenically similar, possible hosts including chickens, turkeys, quail, canaries, pigeons, and many other species of birds.
