Hi Everyone,

First post here from a happy owner of two beautiful year old Pekin Drakes. These forums have been a godsend with information while bringing them up.

We have recently noticed some black indent scabs on the knees of both our pekins, was hoping to see if anyone had come across this before. The only thing I can think of is bumble foot but its on the knees instead? Its been a week and the scabs haven't changed at all.

Pictures attached.

Thanks everyone!

They are called Hock Sores, and will develop when ducks (most often meat ducks) lay down throughout most parts of the day; eventually, the area becomes sore, callused, and cracked which allows bacteria to penetrate inside the tissue. From what I'm seeing through the photos, that may be the case with your bird.
If there would to be an infection,* in most cases there is,* in the underlying tissue, it would be best sorted via a veterinarian experienced with birds, as bone infections can be quite hard to treat.
If that is not an option, I would suggest starting them on antibiotics ( an antibiotic suitable for bone infections such as Enrofloxacin) and attempt to increase their time spent in water. When out of water grounds should be soft to avoid pressure being applied to the hock joints.
