Black Stars and Black Australorps and Black Sex Links

Hi,

I would like to find some Black Star chicks. I found them at McMurray, but don't want to wait until late May-June to get chicks (I should have ordered earlier) I did find some Black Sex Links at another hatchery. Are they the same as Black Stars. My other choice are Black Australorps..Any ideas on how these chicken breeds compare?

Black Stars are black sex-links. Every hatchery comes up with their own names for the crosses they sell, but they'll all be sex-links. Much the same for the red or gold sex-links.

Assuming it's a good hatchery then any sex-link should be a better layer than the Black Australorps available in the U.S. if you feed and manage them right.
