How to tell if a blackshoulder chick is pied or not? As the blackshoulder chicks are cream/white how would you know if it was an actual pied or not? Anyone have pictures of the difference?

In the US when the color is not stated it is implied that the bird is IB. That said it wouldn't matter what the color is if you are just trying to determine if a BS is Pied or not. The white of a Pied on a BS is not dominant early on and will increase as the bird matures. One of the easiest ways to determine is the yellow down on a BS chick will color out, if it is a real white it will remain white. If we don't say a color ... the identity of the peacock doesn't exist!
Yes, ... we need 'close up' pictures where we can see on the wing the pink feathers (BS) mixed with white feathers.

I just answered that, what part did you not understand and I will try again.I have been trying to breed for Indian Blue Black Shoulder pied. I started with in Indian Blue Pied male on a black shoulder females. The resulting offspring so far have given me Indian Blue pieds, Indian Blues and Black Shoulders but no Black Shoulder pied. I was just wondering if there was a way to tell early on if the bird would be a pied or just a plain Black Shoulder?
OK, look at the pic I posted above, the yellow will turn color and the white will stay white and it should get even more white as it ages. If it does not have any white it probably won't get any or very little. I will look for a pic of an IBBS Piedit may be easier for you to see. There is also a current thread I just replied to that is an excellent example, they were asking if it was a cock or hen.The yellow fluff on the chick can stay white or darken if it is a true BS. How do you tell as a chick which it will be?
