Blind Chicken Breeding?

Hi, my Serama hen just hatched out a chick who’s blind in one eye and I was wondering if when he got older I would be able to breed him, any advice? All is appreciated! Thanks.

I would not ever breed the chick, especoally if he hatched blind and it wasn't from an injury. No point in potentially creating more birds with issues

Provide wider areas for the chick to feed and drink from. Your chick will most likely have more trouble aiming their peck, so this would do it good.

Hi, i have a blind chicken that is fully blind. I think he is my favorite pet ever and glad that i have him. I also have a chicken that is partially blind, but lives normally. It is for sure possible, one eye is better than nothing. @InterestingChickens is right about a larger area. I put my blind chicken in a trough full of his food in the morning and in the afternoon. The deep food helps him eat, and deep water dishes. You dont even have to worry about fully blind, it is a big difference in care. But some special food tray and water dish will help.

I agree entirely. Perpetuating a defect is a bad idea.
