Blinders for pheasants

I recently received 30 Pheasant chicks. They are only a few days old and are loving to face peck and leg peck etc.. I want to find out the most effective way to prevent this or at least get a handle on what could be a bad outcome. I heard of using the blinders as early as 3 weeks of age and putting greens in brooder to give them something to peck at. Just looking for other opinions, would really appreciate it.!

Get them other things to peck on. They love those chick stick things that hang down. They peck at them and it swings they love them. Plan on putting the blinders on soon, I know its crazy but they will definitely peck all the tail feathers off of each other and they will not grow back.

You'll want to change their water every day, skip the electrolytes. They make the water stink really bad! It'll about make you lose your lunch. We had no idea they stunk so bad. Lol. We custom raised pheasants for 2 years with help from an expert that we had come to our farm. We are done doing it now as we have our own farm to run and the people we were raising for weren't exactly helpful. He ordered the blinders after all the tail feathers were gone, and never paid the feed company. We had 600 last year, 30 sounds awesome!

This has been done, thanks. It is just fascinating how much they pick at each other. They even go crazy about your hand when you are trying to clean waters lol

Enough space is essential when raising pheasants. Small brooders do not work well in my experience. I used to raise chicks in an 8 X 10' coop with multiple heating stations. Chicks were allowed access to 15' X 60' runs once they were fully feathered. As long as enough space was provided I did not have problems with cannibalism or feather pecking.

They are in a 6' x 4' brooder. There seems to be plenty of room.
