Hi we have an issue with in our flock
one of our regular layer of barred rock hen (3 yard old) stop laying since molting (December 2022)then become broody followed up by developed bloated belly with fluid (clear fluid)

we had twice syringe out the fluid and she is eating well mixing well with in our flock got pushdown in pecking order

is this some thing curable to add more interest to my story both the time we syringe out the fluid we kept her indoor over night for observation, Guess what she crow early in the morning both situation never since

How and why our hen started to crow

Thanks
Nash

Poor thing...not it is most likely not curable.

What do you feed your flock?
Unbalanced diets can mess with their liver which can cause this.
Hi kiki
Aiyo I feel bad
First of all thank you for taking time out to reply me.
We feed with layers pellets, sundflower seeds, loads of nuts, meal worms, tuna, apple, greens, carrot and grass clippings occasionally cooked Rich and bread
Please advise which of this I should stop feeding them with..thanks
In relation to poor hen twice we syringe out the fluids and she is eating drinking well as well as mixing with other flock buddies. sadly got pushed well down in the pecking order.we don't mind of her not laying (for the last 8 month) at her prime she was one of our regular layer of massive brown egg. All coincide with her molting then became broody and now this. We don't want our heart rule our head by keeping her alive but suffering in pain by keeping her alive
Thanks
