bloated chicken/soft shelled eggs?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, love it so far, so knowledgeable.

But the reason I came here was one of my red hens, started looking really bloated all over, then layed an egg or two without shells, and looked great after, happy the next day, then a couple of days later same thing happened, bloated for a day, lays shell less eggs, and then all thin and happy again??

Any ideas?
