blocked cloaca

I just found one of my older chickens straining to poop. I checked her over and found her vent blocked. I pulled the stool off of her and her cloaca was bloody. I washed that area and removed all of the excess material but now she seems like she still needs to poop. I think she has been blocked just today. She seemed fine yesterday. What should I look for that would indicated something is wrong?

Loads of vaseline or sudacrem or zinc caster oil to ease the soreness and lubricate her. plenty of lettuce or watery foodstuffs. this will make her loose and help passing.
