Thanks for the reply. I don't have a poultry vet around me and I asked my local vet if they would conduct a fecal float and they said no. I do give oyster shells on the side. I just didnt know what could cause this. Should I treat for worms or give corid? They have had lose stool for weeks.Chicken droppings can vary throughout the day, sometimes containing intestinal shed or being the shiny sticky fermented cecal poops. They do not need any scratch, but it should be less than 10% of their diet if you chose to give it as a treat. Layer, all flock, and chick starter have all of the nutrients they need. Having crushed oyster shell available in a separate container for hens’ who are laying is helpful to supply calcium. If you are seeing more intestinal shed you could take some fresh droppings into your regular vet for a fecal float on your next visit. They will look for worms and coccidiosis.
