HI! I am a very new chicken owner but my husband's family has always raised them. Anyway this morning I noticed it looks like one of them has blood in the stool?! The watery part is dark blood red. they all seem fine. Do you know what this could be from. My mom in law thinks it might be from worms...

Second question is that we have our yard sprayed every three months for creepy crawlies..will this harm the chickens? Should I not spray anymore outside? We only spray around the perimeter of the house but I am sure they won't be able to distinguish where its been sprayed or not. We just got them a few days ago, so they don't have free range yet.

Thanks for any advice in advance!

My first thought on the bloody stools would be Coccidiosis. You might want to put some corid or sulmet in the water. You will need to treat all the birds with that one.

As for the spraying, yes, I believe that might put your birds at risk. They will eat bugs. those bugs will, no doubt, be dying of the spray or have residue in them. I spray my front yard, but not the back. I don't even let my birds out, but bugs might crawl in the run and be eaten.
These are just my opinion, not absolute fact.
