Hello,
Lately, I've noticed something that looks like blood on the poop tray (after a night of roosting) - not much, just a little bit, and not every day.
But yesterday I noticed a lot!
It looked like blood in colour and perhaps mucus in texture.

I was looking on the internet last night and came across some info that it could be Coccidiosis.

But this morning, it looks all clear - just normal poop.

Is this normal?
Should I refrain from collecting and eating the eggs?

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Bobby.

How old are the birds, and how long have you had them? If you can get a picture of the dropping, or another one if it happens that might be helpful. How are the birds acting? Normally, eating and drinking well, moving around like normal? If any one looks off, sitting fluffed up, isolating themselves, not eating or drinking well, then I would definitely consider coccidiosis.

I think the chickens are behaving as per normal.

And this morning, another normal finding on the poop tray - no blood.

It's a bit strange; Hard to tell if they're sick or not.

If it is coccidiosis - should I refrain from collecting and eating the eggs?

No need to avoid the eggs. Even if you treated with amprolium, there is no egg withdrawl for that medication. Do they free range, any possibility that they are finding berries anywhere, or something else that may make the droppings look red?
Do you have a vet that will do a fecal for you on some fresh droppings? That would ID if there are large coccidia numbers or any other internal parasite that could be a problem. You can also use a mail in option if you don't have a vet that will run one for you. The test is the same for all species, but some won't do for a chicken.

Another day today for the poop tray looking normal.

I'll keep monitoring to look for changes...
