bloody chicken leg

When I went out to the chicken yard,one of my chickens had a bloody spot on its leg, over the scales. The bloody spot wasn't dried or anything but now that it is winter I'm worried about her foot. I dabbed at the blood with a paper towel and put a bandage over it.But the question remains why does she have a bloody foot? oh. and did I treat the foot how I should have?
(also her legs seemed dry with skin peeling,could that be the part of the problem?)

Try putting petroleum jelly on it. That will help with the dryness. Something probably scratched it or another chicken picked it.

Would Vaseline work?

Yeah Vaseline (patroleum jelly) works great for dry skin.
