I let our six hens out this morning to see blood in the chicken coop. Our Welsummer hen has blood all over her comb. Can't figure out if she was pecked or what. All of the other hens are fine. She's walking around clucking.
How should we clean this? Any other insight? Thanks!

Hey ! The same thing happened to my Wellsummer hen. She probably had a little fight with another hen or got it caught on something. I would just clean her up with a warm water rag so the other chickens don't pick on her and she should be fine <3:)

Thank you so much! I'm waiting for my husband to get off a call so he can hold her while I clean it. I shook corn starch over it to help stop the bleeding

Clean her off first and foremost. Chickens will peck at blood, so make sure she isn't getting pecked on afterwards. If it were me, I would coat it with some ORIGINAL neosporin with NO pain killer as well. Combs can get bloody really easily, but its often not as bad as it looks.
