Hi,
My chicken, Ginger, a Rhode Island red hen had blood on her foot. I noticed while I was giving them some bread, that there was blood on the ground and I looked at all of my chickens carefully and I saw some blood on Ginger's foot. Then I looked around and I saw like a trail of blood around the chicken run. She didn't looked bothered at all. but she was limping a little bit. I thought that she scratched it on something or another chicken got into a fight with her. But I didn't see any feathers on the ground or in the coop. I also saw 1 of her feather on the ground. But which coop doesn't have any feathers on the ground.

The scratch looked like it was a scab. So it you have any ideas so the scab doesn't get infected or anything else like that.

Thanks!,

P.S. I put this in the new members introduction by accident. Sorry!

Have you checked to see if any of her toenails got ripped or knocked off? They can bleed a lot and make things look worse than they are. That would also cause her to limp because it's sore.

Where is the scab located? If it is on the 'pad' of her foot it is probably Bumble foot. Do a search on that and see if it matches.
