My chicks have been out in the coop going on 3 weeks now and everything has been going fine (even after introducing 5 new chicks to the original 5) they have been free ranging some and have been out in the run a lot.

My question is this: Is reddish poo always caused by blood? or could it have something to do with the bunch of strawberry tops i gave to them last night? I saw one of these "poos" in the coop tonight and of course I am worried. I have Corid here so I can treat for cocci if needed, but everyone seems healthy and are all eating like champs as far as I can see.

ALL advice is greatly appreciated!! thanks!

Yes, it could be strawberries. If they have cocci they should look very sick. It could also be intestinal lining, which looks like blood, and which is also normal.

thanks for the reassurance. I checked the "poo chart" and it does not look anything like the example for cocci.... If I am this concerned about baby chickens heaven help me if I ever have a child!!
