I have a 9 month old blue andalusian. Yesterday morning when I let everyone out, she stayed on the roost. I noticed some reddish poop below her, but they had some beets the night before, so I didn't worry too much. What I did notice was that her crop was quite swollen. A little massaging produced some stinky burps, so I decided that is was the sour crop that was making her feel so bad. I got the majority of the fluid out of her crop and then administered some olive oil and probiotics. She has been isolated since yesterday morning. She doesn't seem to be any better, but her crop is almost back to normal. My main concern at the moment is her poop. It is a dark red to brown thick bloody meaty consistency, almost like mashed chicken liver. She was fine the day before and was laying. None of the other hens have any of these symptoms. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

thanks,

It sounds like those beets did not agree with her!

You're doing great with the probiotics and olive oil, that should help a lot if it is a crop problem. Apple Cider Vinegar is supposed to really help sour crop, and it would probably be good for getting her system back on track anyway.

I don't know what to tell you about the poop, hopefully someone who has more experience will come along! Good luck to your girl

Thanks for the reply. She has ACV in her water at the moment, she seems to be drinking a little, but it isn't moving through her system too quickly. I'm not sure if the weird poop is cocci or not. I can't figure it out. I'm gonna go take a picture and post it soon.
