Bloody poop

I need some advice...I have 2 clutches going on here. Seperated. Someone in the Americanas (3 weeks) room has bloody poop. Or at least very dark poop. And in the Golden Lace Wyanndot (4 weeks) room someone has watery pale diarrea. I'm trying to go the natural route. At least no drugs. So the 1st bag of feed was a laying mash, corn & bean meal. Then the feed store sold me Purina's flock raiser. I guess my 2 questions would be...What should I do about the poop? And What can I feed so that they are getting a natural diet? Without all the perservitives.

First off laying mash from what I understand is toxic to chicks and should only be fed to adult laying age birds. It causes kidney failure. I don't know from personal experience, I was told that before I began raising chickens years ago and never tried it. And I would say without medicated chick starter you are bound to have a coccidia problem, that can cause watery stools and blood in the stools and eventually death. And it's very contagious from one chick to the other since they scratch and peck in their own droppings all the time while confined to a brooder. I would say if you want to save the group to get them on medicated chick starter asap and also treat with sulmet or corid in their water asap, like today.
Sorry, just not really an all natural alternative to quickly stop a coccidia outbreak once it's started. Add in the laying mash problem and it could be either or both. Perhaps some other posters might have some other insight?

Yes, goldensunriseranch is correct about the layer feed..you need to get those chicks off that and get them on a chick feed. Actually if you go the chemical way you don't really want them on a medicated feed while you are treating them with sulmet. If you want to go an Organic way to treat them, there is a Milk Flush HERE . I'm in agreement - bloody poop could be caused from kidneys shutting down; GET THEM OFF THE ADULT CHICKEN FEED ASAP!!!
