I have two BA chicks, one blue, one splash. I know it's very early, but the splash is sprouting comb fast. Both genders do have very large combs when mature. This one does not behave like a roo at all, but also has more prominent leg spur buds than other BA. Both have very stout legs. Thanks.
Leg size and spurs can't be used to determine gender, as hens can develop those characteristics too. It's is too early to tell gender, 10 -12 weeks is prime, but I'd keep on eye on the Splash Andalusian, it does have a cockerel-like look.
Thank you. Both BAs feathered out super fast, including tails. In my only other chick-to-rooster experience, my BR cockerel feathered out very slowly, and was especially slow growing a tail compared to females.
I didn't know if feathering speed might be a clue in Blue Andalusians or not.
