I’d agree with this, but I believe they also have the melanotic gene as well. To account for the black lacing.

Its not proper lacing, but melanotic is also found on many self black birds

Would it be the cha/cha melanized or the MI/MI melanized? Or both?

Self Black Birds can hide both

I breed the Blue, Black and White Bresse, as well as some other blue breeds. The blue gene still is incompletely dominant, but the blue color of the Bresse is more beautiful then most.

here is a pullet in the snow with some beautiful coloring.
