Hi all - noobie here. Anyway I noticed this today but there is no swelling and they act fine and eat/drink (so far) and it's been quite hot out so....what's the prognosis? Many thanks!

Hey, I'm a newbie too, and this is something I stumbled across while googling to figure out what was wrong with my rooster. It's a site from the University of Florida and the tables @ the bottom are pretty useful in nailing down the symptoms of an ailment, for me at least.....

This other site expands a little on specific ailments once you nail down the symptoms themselves.....

good luck with your flock, pretty birds by the way

P.S. If these links prove useful, pass 'em on....

Something besides a simple dry pox is going on. Its spread too evenly and thinly for dry pox. And look at their tails, they're all down.

Stand back and watch these birds during the day, see if you notice anything different.

Thanks for the answers (I'm Asiatic's wife), we were a little embarassed. I left the car grease joke right after we figured out that's what it was. They were spending some time under a car. While I was franticly calling vets looking for help, on a hunch I decided to try washing it....and it came off! Just car grease...so we had a good (if not embarassed) laugh. Thanks again for the tips!
