Blue Copper Marans?

I hatched out a few dozen Black Copper Marans & one of them came out different than the rest. One chick is very shiny silver. Is this a Blue Copper Marans or something else? Has the neighbor's rooster been sneaking over?

We won't know for sure until it feathers out a little more. So far, everything matches up with pure Marans.

Is it possible that one of your hens or roo is mixed? Pics of the parents?

I don't own the parents, so anything is possible.

You can run Black Copper and Blue Copper together and still get pure Black Copper and pure Blue Copper. Black C x Blue C gives you 50% Black C and 50% Blue C. They may have just subbed an egg, or sent one out of a different pen by mistake. You could probably double check with whoever you got the eggs from! Super cute chicks!

This chick looks more like lavender to me than blue. Not saying 100% but that's my impression. Otherwise, it's probably a blue copper Marans.

That looks like my blue maran. It's around 3 weeks now and has the same color when it hatched out as yours does.

I haven't been doing this very long, so I can't tell if it's blue or lavender. It's very shiny silver, it almost looks chrome plated.
