Blue cuckoo Americauna

I have an Americauna Roo, that is blue cuckoo. Is this a pure-breed like he was supposed to be? I recently read that Americauna are usually solid in color. Would breeding him with my Blue Americauna hen give show quality birds?

Americauna (or Americana) is often used as a synonym for Easter Egger. Blue cuckoo is not a recognized Ameraucana color, which means your rooster is an Easter Egger. Even if he was a true Ameraucana and you have true Ameraucana hens, breeding them is no guarantee of getting show quality progeny. If you want to, post pictures of your rooster and hens. Blue cuckoo and blue are very pretty colors no matter the breed.

I think if your roo is the one that is cuckoo, all of your birds will be cuckoo. I bet he’s beautiful though!!
