So which breed lays the brightest blue eggs, and which breed lays the largest blue eggs????

I got 6 Easter eggers from fleet farm this spring, they are all laying green eggs. I like and wanted some green eggs, but I also want Blue eggs. The plan for the spring is to add half a dozen pullets who lay only blue eggs, bright and large. any ideas??

Cream Legbar, whiting true blue, pure Ameraucana (not Americana).

I also had a couple of grey eggs too, which I have never heard anyone mention.
@gimmie birdies has some hens that lay beautiful dark gray eggs. I have a couple hens that lay light gray eggs, but not nearly as beaitiful as hers. Still, yes gray is pretty rare.

I appreciate your question, and will be curious to see what others say. Can you have a rooster where you live, & so eventually hatch your own eggs? If so you can become your "own breeder." By selecting the biggest and bluest eggs laid by your hens (fertilized by a rooster carrying the blue egg gene), within a few generations you will see larger and bluer eggs. Thats what i did, beginning with 21 easter egger pullets and 3 cockerels purchased from ideal hatchery in 2015. 2/3 of those pullets laid blue eggs and they laid nearly daily, but egg size was on the smallish side. I began selecting only the biggest and bluest eggs each year to incubate. (I sell eggs so wanted bigger size And good color.)

Below is example of a Very jumbo egg. I get a lot of those every year now. I still have most of those 2015 easter hens, plus many of their daughters, grandaughters, etc. The egg below is Not a double yolker, just a giant egg from an older easter egger hen. The eggs pictured with the purple are examples of increased blue tint over the years. So again, IF u can keep a rooster(s), you can in a few generations improve blue egg color yourself. I dont consider myself a "breeder"; i simply wanted bigger and brighter blue eggs, since blue is my favorite color egg color. But i also love all the other easter egger colors too!

I had 8 roostes out of the initial 24 birds, I am down to 3. One keeps attacking my wife, so he will be soup soon!!! One is ee X isa brown, so he is the only one with a chance of having the blue egg gene. In the spring, i want to get a couple copper marans, and cream legbar pullets. I have 16 total now, but dont want too many more! Tough decisions to make.

I have 22 acres, so I can have what I want.

Glad you can have roos; that means that yes you can eventually become your own "breeder." Does yoir easter egger/isa brown cross roo have a pea comb or straight comb? If you can get a pure-bred blue egger roo next spring, that would more quickly get you to your goal of larger, brighter blue eggs, especially since u want to limit your overall chicken count numbers. From what ive previously read, cream legbar and true ameraucana eggs tend to be medium size. But that may have changed in the last few years, & maybe there are breeds/breeders producing larger blue eggs now. Sounds like you are wanting a colorful egg basket. Since you will be able to select your own eggs and hatch your own chicks, you can do it. Good luck with your future artistic endeavors!

Also Shetland hens, though they are still rare here in the U.S. and sometimes lay greenish eggs. Bluest egg I've ever seen posted on this site:

I am fascinated by the Shetlands, and not just because my family is originally from Scotland. Everyone who has them comments on how calm and gentle they are. (Also see avatar pic of my four-legged Shetland ;)).
