Nice lacing on that bird. How’d your blue experiment go?I breed Barnevelders standard and first year using a Blue rooster! I’ve had so many breeds over the years and my Barnies are my favorite! Never had a mean rooster from them and my hens are super sweet and run up to me.
I hatched a BLRW a few years ago (only 1 out of several BLRW eggs) along with an EE. She wasn’t very friendly but she was beautiful! (The EE, otoh, was like a puppy dog and oh so smart!) They were best friends.I love the beauty of the blue lacing pattern. This spring I'd like to add either a Blue Laced Barnevelder or a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. Any thoughts on which would be better for me? My most important criteria are:
1) friendly and docile (the cuddly the better!)
2) mixed flock friendly (I have 6 girls and will raise the new chick with 1 or 2 others)
3) healthy and long life span (I know this varies with individuals and how they are cared for)
I'm less concerned about egg laying ability.
