Blue Laced Barnevelder vs. Wyandotte

I breed Barnevelders standard and first year using a Blue rooster! I’ve had so many breeds over the years and my Barnies are my favorite! Never had a mean rooster from them and my hens are super sweet and run up to me.

Nice lacing on that bird. How’d your blue experiment go?

I love the beauty of the blue lacing pattern. This spring I'd like to add either a Blue Laced Barnevelder or a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. Any thoughts on which would be better for me? My most important criteria are:
1) friendly and docile (the cuddly the better!)
2) mixed flock friendly (I have 6 girls and will raise the new chick with 1 or 2 others)
3) healthy and long life span (I know this varies with individuals and how they are cared for)

I'm less concerned about egg laying ability.
I hatched a BLRW a few years ago (only 1 out of several BLRW eggs) along with an EE. She wasn’t very friendly but she was beautiful! (The EE, otoh, was like a puppy dog and oh so smart!) They were best friends.

I absolutely adore my Barnevelder. Her name is Repeckah aka Ms. Peckah. She is smart and pretty. She is nice, gentle, docile and was my first broody hen last years she was a good mamma, and even tolerated keeping my incubator chicks the same age as hers, warm when they’d try to snuggle in with her and her chicks.

She has been great at evading hawks. Sadly I’ve lost too many to a hawk from hell who returned (they had to be locked up most of winter). I digress i also have 3 red/black laced whandottes. They’re nice and get along with the flock. I spoiled them as babies, I can’t name them though lol!! Blue laced are pretty.

Silver double laced barnevelder are stunning! Overall I love both my Barnevelder girls, one is more hangry and aggressive with eating. Repeckah is polite, easily held when I need to. I like their personality better than Wyandottes, but have no complaints about them either.

I have austrolorp, Orpington, Blue & BCM, Maran mixes, had Dominique’s, 1 bardrock, brown leghorns, EE, Delaware.

Personality is best with Orpington, Delaware, Dominique, marans, barnevelder.
