I will be getting this almost year old hen once our chicks are big enough. I was told she is a blue laced red wyandott but I've had other people tell me she isn't. I get she is hatchery quality not show and I really don't mind either way. I was told by someone that she is a splash? She looks a little beat up because she was getting picked on by her other chickens. Her feathers will grow back.

She's either hatchery quality or a splash laced red Wyandotte crossed with something else. Her legs look white instead of yellow and that is why I think she may be a cross. In any case she's very pretty despite the feather damage. If you are going to introduce her into a flock of much younger birds, be very careful. A quarantine is in order to make sure she is healthy and you should check her for lice and mites, too. Deworming might be a good idea, too. And when you do introduce her to the others, keep a close eye on them. Older birds can injure or kill younger birds pretty easily if they have a mind to.

She will be quarantined and I didn't think about the deworming I will do that too. She's very docile and is currently being housed with the lady's bantams but even those guys pick on her. Do you have any pictures of other splash blrw?

This one looks like a splash laced red. I assume you know the genetics for the blue color, but if not then basically it goes like this- blue crossed to blue gives you 50% blue offspring, 25% black, and 25% splash, and this seems to hold true with laced varieties.

The one in front is splash laced while the bird behind is blue laced.

I'm not familiar at all with genetics and colors. Thank you for that info!
