First photo is most definitely a rooster and more than likely keeping him because of the beautiful grey coming in. Now the second/third photo I’m confused on gender. Looks like a hen to me but someone mentioned rooster. Any thoughts?

Both birds are cockerels. Along with the red, developed comb and wattles they're both growing in the long, pointy hackle feathers around their necks.

Just to be sure, how old are they?

I was really hopeful for the last one 😭 they are about 5 months old

Wow, about 5 months? I still think the orange hackle feathers look male, but could you get a picture of both of them standing naturally so we could see their back and saddle feathers? I would kinda expect more comb and wattles for that age on a Wyandotte cockerel.

You haven't heard any cock-a-doodles from either of them?
