Had some chicks hatch yesterday, fairly certain all are australorps although some eggs were unmarked. We had 9 in total but five greys, and I am struggling to tell if they are blue, splash or both! Any ideas?

I am fairly certain 1 is a splash and 5 is a blue, but the others are somewhat inbetween and I cant tell.

I agree
Very difficult to tell

My splash chicks (*they're adults now) were similar to your 1, with that little blue dot.
I unfortunately don't have any blues to compare

I'm wondering if #3 has a blue dot as well? The lighting and blurry picture make it difficult to tell if it's just pigment, or a splash spot

3 does have a darker patch on their back/ shoulders, a darker beak than the other lighter greys too. I will try to update with a better picture when i can. It should also help when their feathers start to come in.

For sure
It's fun watching them grow up and their color changing, as well

For reference on how confusing it is, there are 3 splashes and 1 lavender in this pic (*chick off screen is not one of them)
No blues
I didn't take great documentation, but my splashes didn't really get their spots starting for a couple months.

Here's a pic with slightly better lighting. Still not the best, cuz my camera sucks and theyre running around all over the place. Im fairly certain 2 are splash, 1 is blue, and the other two i still cant tell.
