Just wondering if Blue Orpingtons always have solid dark legs? I finally found someone in my area with blue orpington chicks and bought varying shades of blue and some that I was told were splash. Some are dark blue/yellowish white, some are light blue and some are yellowish/white with just a hint of very light blue but only one has solid dark legs and the rest all have only partly dark legs. So, what's the leg color standard for blue orps?

From the 2010 Standard of Perfection: Shanks and toes: Leaden blue, bottom of feet and toes, pinkish white.

DQ: Yellow beak, shanks, feet or skin.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like they have some Plymouth Rock or Wyandotte bloodlines mixed in. I would cull severly for any with yellow in the shanks or feet.

What does DQ mean?
