We were given a few new hens from a friend who decided to get rid of his chickens. (We added three to our existing three, so doubled the flock, but a stressful time for all as they are working it out) All of our chickens lay brown eggs.
Anyway, he gave us a golden wyandotte, Americauna and Prairie Bluebell. Someone is laying eggs in the bedding instead of the nest, so we know its probably a new chicken (plus the shape is a little pointier than our chickens have ever layed) We seemed to get two brown ones there on the same day which led me to do some research on Prairie Bluebells to see if they can ever get a gene to lay brown eggs (Cream Legbar x Aracauna. I discovered there is another breed called Bluebell that is a cross between a Maran and Rhode Island Red that have gray plumage too. They all look the same and I'm not sure if I'm just reading incorrect info, or if there are really two crosses called Bluebells. Or possibly our Americauna (or Aracauna?) is laying brown eggs if she is a mix?
