Anyone here into boating? I have a 14' jon boat with a 5hp tohatsu that i like to take on local 9.9 limited lakes, and an 18' 1995 Sea Ray 175 Bowrider with a 115 merc. Haven't taken it out yet but i plan on taking it in the bay.

LOVE boating!! Unfortunately there is snow outside right now. We are river rats and spend most of our time on the Missouri River. We will even camp on sandbars overnight, love it! We have an 18' Sugar Sand Mirage jet boat.

These are older pics but here is my fam including Buster our pug who is also my First Mate on the boat. He's a swimming fetching fool.
He gets SUPER excited at the site of me even taking the cover off of the boat in the driveway.

Great looking boat you have there! Jet boats are great, Ive always wanted one. I imagine without a motor shaft they are much better in shallow water. I go in Round Valley Reservior, and Lake Hopactong. Not much of a river guy, but I would like to try out the deleware and passaic rivers this coming summer. Docking on the sand bars must be fun too, I enjoy camping. I wish they let open fires, it would be great to have a campfire out there or cook out. Are you allowed to have open fires there? Taking the boat out on the river and camping out there is definitely something I should do this summer. Man summer can't come fast enough haha

Thanks and yes we do have open fires. I'll set up camp then pile up a huge bonfire for the night. It's pretty much anything goes on the river and we go down stream far enough so that we are pretty much on our own. Every now and then we will see a fishing boat go by at night.

That must be fun. In NJ the only place I am aware of that allows open fires is Island Beach State Park, as long as it is far from the dunes. It is about 2 hours away though, so not really a worthwhile journey, especially with a 2000 lb boat on the back.

Hopefully gas prices stay down so a trek like that doesn't hurt so much.

Yeah they're at $2.25 pg here in Nj, which is great. But not only is it fuel for the drive, it is also fuel for the boat which burns around 10 gph @6000 RPM. Which stinks cause I like to go fast

Me too but sure did a lot of drifting when gas was $4.00+ per gallon. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts!
I don't mind just turning off the engine, casting a line out into the lake. Sometimes it's nice to slow down and enjoy.
