Saucier,Ms.
so what do you feed your birds? I have been feeding mine chicken scratch and laying pellets that I feed my chickens. I have had them about 2-3 weeks and am just now starting to get 1 egg a day from 2 roos and 3 hens

That could be argued if I had the data in front of me.

My son's high school ag class did ration tests with their A&M's. They did just as good on 16% as they did on the 28%. I really need to get the info from the teacher to pass along.

I've been feeding most of mine (the keepers) 16% layer and I get almost an egg a day from the hens (obviously

I do have a couple dozen on "Meat Maker" to see if they will gain any additional weight before the slaughter. (I'm getting hungry!)

Well, mine are raised for meat and eggs, not as a long life pet. Their tests were also only done during the school year and they were indoors 24/7.

I think the only real way to know is to feed some test subjects of your own. Bobwhites might need more protein than Cortnix? Fliers might need more than cage birds??

i mix 16% layer with 28% turkey starter on the straight turkey starter i was getting egg shells too thin and lots of broken eggs now with the mix the birds are doing alot better
