I have just recently purchased 4 bobwhite quail. There are 2 females and 2 males and I was wondering if the pen is big enough if the males will get along? The pen they are in now is about 3.5 feet wide and 6 feet long. Oh, and about 7 feet tall. It was going to be for new chickens, but then along came the bobwhites... Currently they all sleep in a circle with their heads facing out, but I know that once they get into breeding season that could change.

Also, it's an indoor pen - what should go in there? These are just pets and I don't plan on breeding them so I'd like to just make a nice spot for them where they'll be happy. My understanding is that they are primarily ground dwelling but will do some roosting and like to hide. I was going to put some large branches in there and some hiding spots for them (right now a bucket on it's side is sufficing).

Any other pertinent Bobwhite info would also be appreciated, I'm doing a lot of reading but still wouldn't say I know a lot about these birds.

Thanks!

yeah when breeding season comes I think it'd be better to get at least 3 more females, so the males dont kill each other over the females, and about the space that is more than enough for 4 bobwhites I have 15 in a 4x4 pen with a 2x2 coop and they do just fine, I have 4 males and 11 females so the males dont fight over the females, and yeah put something in there where they can hide mine all go into the coop as soon as somebody gets close to them, and if they dont have anything for them to hide on they would be flying all over the place.
