Hey everyone,
I just joined today and looking forward to learning more about keeping chickens.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
A: We had urban chickens when I was a kid that we raised from fertilized eggs from a local farm. I was really young but I have memories of holding the chickens and gathering eggs, as well a my Dad dispatching the roosters.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
A: None but I have 8 day old chicks on order for mid June.
(3) What breeds do you have?
A: we ordered a random mix of rare females so we’ll have to wait and see what we get.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
A: I’m pretty sure it will be the eggs but It might turn out to be something else. They are sort of quirky things aren’t they?
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
A: So many interests and not enough time. Mostly related to mechanical or technical things but to make a few...cars of all types, overlanding, photography, drones, carpentry, archery, target shooting, Travel
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
A: married late in life to my amazing wife with older children that have already flew the coop.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
A:Found via Google looking for info on building coops.Known about it for a couple months. Building a coop now to prep for arrrival of chicks
