Hi! I ordered my first hatchery order, and checked the box for yes to extra bonus mystery chick. I know lots of hatcheries offer this, so I was hoping people would post info about their mystery chick:
1. Gender
2. Breed
3. Hatchery

If you’ve done this more than once, feel free to list them all! Can’t wait to see what everyone had received in the past!

It's usually a boy, sometimes on the higher price end or rare. (hatcheries think EEs are rare though, don't ask me why).
Mine was a Dark Brahma, from Murray McMurray.

I prefer a pullet, but would LOVE a WTB roo to pass on the blue egg gene! Any docile roo breed would be awesome too.

Back when I ordered my in-town flock, Ideal sent me 5 "Red Boys" -- Production Red -- as "packing peanuts".

They didn't include any with this past May's order, but it was hot then so "extra males for warmth" weren't necessary.

Welp sent a 26th chick with my order of 25. He was a Blue Cuckoo Marans.

Hatcheries are too expensive. When I looked I would have to pay like $50 for 6 chicks.

You can get 6-7 for $30 from ideal and Mt healthy depending on the breed. $7 ship ideal, free ship Mt Healthy.
