Bleenie, here is a link to chapter 17 on a book about Poultry breeding & genetics by By R. D. Crawford

It's actually very good. Lists when & who discovered/named the color genes. It is a bit of a read & goes over my head BUT I get the general drift of it. You could folow up by looking up the listed resources used.
