Bought some chickens, but where are my eggs?

I finished my coop and became a new chicken owner. Got 12-month old chickens off craigslist, this was Saturday. As of today, I still have not seen an egg? Are they stressed from the move, not familiar with the territory, or are my nesting boxes not right?

The nesting boxes are about 12" x 12" and 18" deep. The top two have carpet in them, and the bottom two have long strands of dead bermuda grass (like straw, right?).

I have 10 chickens, all different types of breeds. I am using the purina "layer" feed that the previous owner used.

Someone set me straight so I can start making some omelets!

OK, you said 12 months. Let's hope that is accurate. Also, days are just now lengthening, so things will improve.
I like wood chips in the box. Well, actually, the hens like wood chips in the box.

If they are newly moved I've herd of stories of them not laying until they're fully settled.

Also, are the chickens bantams? They don't lay quite as often as most standard breeds.

Sounds fine! Just check occasionally around the coop/run to make sure that they haven't felt a different place makes a worthier nest. If they have, you can modify the nest boxes to be more convenient. But I'm betting they're just taking their time settling in--the stress and all that.

Good luck!

ETA: I have just read your above post; out of curiosity, do you have 3 chickens, or 4? Seems like a thing to be concrete about!

Just kidding, don't worry about it.

Give them a chance to settle in and get used to their surroundings, it may take a week or two, they don't like change and shut down if they have drastic changes. They'll lay for you soon enough, keep us posted please.

I would guess that they are a little disrupted by the move. They will settle down once they realize that food and water is still plentiful. I'd love to see pictures of your ladies. You said you have 10 chickens with 3-4 that you believe are bantams. Do you know what kind they are?
