We got 20 hens from a friend who advised us they shared their coop with a white cockerel. I did a test in my new hovabator and only one hatched. I have nothing to compare it to as my previous 8 hens were rescues and I've never had chicks before.

Any idea if it's a pullet or not and am I going the right way thinking it's a leghorn?

That's good news! It would have been disappointing to have the only chick end up being a male!! I now have 4 more bundles of joy playing soccer with the other eggs in the incubator right now so at least my hatch rate is getting better!!

I have some packing peanuts that i am assuming are leghorns. Their combs aren't huge, but they're blood red. And they're just a little older than yours.

Pullet..What makes you think leghorn? Did they say what breed the white fella was? There are so many white breeds..did you see him and see what color ear lobes he has?Leg color? Both of those questions can really help determine what the roo was.
I will say Leghorns DON'T have huge combs..even pullets until close to pol so the comb could fit many breeds including a leghorn. What color legs does this gal have? Can you get a better picture of her head so we can tell if the ear lobes will come in white or red?
Maybe time for Kevin to get a new name..Kathy maybe?

I never saw their rooster as he was dinner for them. So I can't confirm either way. Having said that Kevina will be a Heinz due to her mother being a production red !

I'll get a close-up of her head when I get home. Working the wonderful nightshift right now.
