Can anyone tell from my photo wether this is a boy or girl? Or even what color he/she is? I was hoping to find him or her a mate after I am sure of his/her sex since I can't seem to find any eggs anymore and there is no one close enough with any chicks I guess. If someone does end up being close enough with something, or has some eggs I can afford, please let me know

You have your peachick in with a lovebird???LOL:lau I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you out. I'm fairly new to peafowl so I can't help.

You might be able to do a search on here b/c there have been a lot of posts on peachick pics. You might be able to decipher what you have from one of those. Good luck and have fun!

I am new to peafowl as well, but I'll take a wild guess...
India blue male
Now you'll just have to wait for the more knowledgable people to come online and see if I'm right!

Wouldn't there be a little more light coloring in there if it was an IB? Although when my ib's were 2 mos they looked like that. How old is your peachick ebonyann?

Still a bit young to be sure.. it gets easier when they have feathers up their neck and backs. Leaning towards female, but not confident about the guess at this age. looks India Blue

Oh boy, gotta pull out what passes for hatch records for me, LOL. This one hatched on July 8th or 9th.
I had a pen outdoors for her, or him, to go in at least during the day. It was fine when I had two peachicks but when I lost the other one then all of a sudden this chick went into a kind of depression and the other birds in the cage started beating on him hardcore. I was going to put him by himself in a brooder box but all he did was cry and the lovebird sat there and whisled and screamed 24 hours a day in response to the chick. They sit there and cuddle together at night now, and the peachick can't get out of the birdcage and fly around the house either. I wouldn't really mind it if my kids weren't always leaving the doors open. I don't want to lose my last chick. You wouldn't believe the heart attacks some people that raise house birds but won't even touch poultry have had when they heard that my lovebird is happiest being a surrogate hen though. LMAO
I will have to post a new pic when he or she is old enough. How old does he need to be?

LOL, yes he is starting to, funny looking little feathers but still so cute. OK how old are they when you can tell for sure? 1 year, 2 maybe?
