I have 6 chicks that are almost 8 weeks old, 4 barred rocks and 2 NHR. If you would look at the following pictures and let me know your thoughts whether they are hens or roos I would greatly appreciate it. Not great pictures, I apologize.

Do you think you could take pictures of their tail feathers? Then I could see if they have saddle feathers-(which would help indicate they are roosters or not.) It looks like they are hens though......

8 weeks is too young for saddle or hackle feathers. At this age you're looking pretty much for comb size and color, leg thickness, and color (on certain breeds).

I'm not seeing anything screaming rooster at this point. Those breeds don't have shy boys as a rule and they usually make themselves well known by now.

Thank you, I'll get tail feather pictures tomorrow and will resubmit. We are hoping for hens

Last year we ordered all pullets and 5 out of 12 were roos.

Hen.

This one looks like a rooster to me because of the hackle feathers.

Hen.

I can't tell on this one....

Maybe rooster.
Well, I hope this helps! As time goes on, it will be even more obvious which ones are roosters and which ones are hens.
Keep us updated!
