These are 7 week old Australorps. The splash one is being really hard to figure out.

The first image is of One Spot, the only one that I am 100% sure is a boy.

The next 3 images are of the splash that I cant tell is a girl or boy.

The next 4 are of a blue I THINK is a boy, but again hard to tell, there is reddening around the base of the comb, but the comb remains uncolored.

The 4 after that are of 3 perched chicks, I cant tell the gender on them. Could go either way.

Any help would be HUGELY appreciated! Ive been having terrible luck with more boys than girls the last few years!!

The first picture is the only obvious cockerel, as you pointed out. The splash could be either-- its comb has some development but it is pale, and it has little wattle development. So I would lean toward it being a pullet, but if it has rapid comb/wattle development in the next few weeks, then it could turn out to be a cockerel. So maybe try again in a couple of weeks if you still want advice. That goes for the rest of them, too. They look like pullets this far.

Yeah I cant tell at all. The first one, the boy, One Spot is his name (He had one black spot on his head as a chick) has GINORMOUS feet, like a T-Rex, though the others have big feet, they dont really show the size of the toes or leg bones/joints that One Spot has. He also still doesnt have much for wattles, but they are reddening up, they started pinking up in the last week. Ill just die if I have 90% boys again this year :hit

I don't think you have to worry about having tons of cockerels. I'm pretty sure they are all pullets except the one you know is a cockerel. The splash one bears watching, but I think it is a pullet.

I'm sorry to kinda derail this but I have a question on these lovelies! Did you order them from an online source?

I had no idea australorps could be splash or blue! These guys are gorgeous, if you got them from somewhere online I might have to alter my flock plans for next year :love

Im in Canada, so ordering from a hatchery is hard, but yes, Aussies can be black, splash or blue! Some are even lavender looking, and I think someone out there is trying for chocolate. Some blues are more laced than others.

Blues are my favorite!

I think there should be some American Hatcheries that carry them, they are not super rare :thumbsup

First one does look like a cockerel. The rest I think need a few more weeks, they all looks like pullets right now to me too. Your Australorps are beautiful, love the splash! Are the dark blue ones with the gray combs in the 3rd pic Blue Australorps too? Love them.
