My EE roo loves his BR hens. My EE has gone broody. I know they will be mutts but would they not still be considered EE? Roo was hatched from a green egg.

They will be sex-links (barred boys, non-barred girls), other than that, should be anyone's guess. I'm probably going to do a similar but opposite hatching soon, so let's see what we get!! (EE hens, BR roo)

COOOL! I am a newbie at genetics. YEA I'll be able to tell the boys from the girls!!!!!

I got a surprise (as did my friend who gave me the eggs, LOL) once when a supposedly purebred BR batch of eggs produced some crossbred chicks. The EE rooster was one of those with lots of blue and red and probably was not pure for pea comb. With the BR hens, he produced hens I used to have, now owned by rooster-red, Iris and Hazel. They have beautiful spangling and single combs, though one does have a trace of a beard. That mating did not produce any males. Here are Iris and Hazel:

Just a tip: when you write the abbreviation to designate a breeding, the rooster goes first, i.e., EE x BR is EE roo over BR hen.

Your roo has a single comb, which means he probably does not carry the blue egg gene, even though he hatched from a blue egg. They will be normal sex-links. Barred boys.
