Put themselves to bed at night! I used to go out there and swoosh them into the coop every night around 7pm, and now when I go out there to change their water and swoosh them, they are already in there on their favorite shelf! 9 bigbirds all on one teensy shelf. But all by themselves. I am one proud momma.

My new three are integrating nicely--my silkie and splash blue yndot are best friends and are happiest when they are together on the floor of the coop(deep litter).

Finally! Peace in the valley and kids that go to bed without having to ask 15 times! (now if I could get the human child to do that, it would be a banner day!)

Isn't that a great feeling? *Congrats!*

We had an escapee yesterday (a 2 month old JBTW). Rather than chase him around and make everyone crazy, we just left him alone and hoped for the best. When I went out to close up the barn, he was in front of his pen looking at me like I was an idiot for locking him out. Rotten little thing

I'm totally jealous!

Maybe when it cools off they will be more incllined to act like good little chickens. For now,I'm doing the swoosh, too!

Congrats!

Doesn't it make you feel like a successful mom?! My girls moved three days ago from their brooder to their pre-coop "condo" (an old rabbit hutch). Their first night they had to be herded in; their second night they wandered up on their own early so I just locked them in. Tonight, they're yelling at me through the sliding glass door and I can't figure out what the problem is--go outside to check the hutch and my daughter had closed it all up! As soon as I let the ramp down, all five raced right in and hunkered down for the night!! They're growing up so fast!

Mine can, do they? Not always, mine sleep wherever they want to, in the trees, on the porch, in the bushes, sometimes even in the coop!

Mine started to go in every night once the cornish rocks were out of the coop. The cornish rocks could go up and down the ramp, they did during the day but they woud refuse to go in at night. The Rhode Islands followed their lead. But once the cornish's were gone, they started going in by themselve's. Generally not till about 9pm.
