I purchased 36 eggs from a farmer who lives 3 hours from me so naturally they did do a 3 hour drive but he drove and they say upright and in my control the whole time. I placed them a few hours after getting home. 11:30 pm on mar 2nd. And then one of my own polish eggs 12 hours later at 11am mar 3. I have a circulated hovabator. It has the higher end thermostat but there still is some issues with the one side being a little cooler. Like 98. I p
12 eggs have hatched so far. 4 more pips.
Being as we are approaching 24 hours after the start of the 21st day I expected more than 12 hatches by now? My egg that I placed 12 hours after the rest has already pipped.
The brahma haven't even shown any signs of hatching yet. I find that odd as I have 8 or 9 in there.
The blue laced red wyandotte I have 7 of, there is only one pip. But these were located in the area that was a little colder than I'd have liked.
The polish from the farmer hatched first. 5 hours before anyone else actually and literally on the hour of day 21 starting.
Only 2 buff orpington out of 7 have hatched.
I candled 10-15 eggs each time and very few showed lack of development. Maybe 4 total I left them as they didn't have a smell or cracks. I candled about 15 eggs the day before lockdown and all were healthy and moving, wyandotte and brahma especially included. So I could maybe comprehend the wyandotte being behind because of the temp issue where they were located, but what is up with my buff and brahma being so far behind even the egg that I placed half a day after them? Is that one just coming faster because it is a polish which is a much smaller breed than the rest especially when compared to brahma and orps?
The temps are all between 98and 100.2. and I have a smart temp in there so that should be very accurate. Humidity hasn't fallen below 58% since lockdown and that was less than 10 mins of a fall. The rest of the time it's been above 65%. I did a semi dry hatch prior. I can't go completely dry as it's rarely over 20% humidity in my house out here in the desert. When I pulled the original 10 chicks from the incubator I upped the whole room to 85% humidity so that I could safely remove them without bugging the pips which 2 eggs hatched after so I assume it worked. What is going wrong here. I'm mostly familiar with incubating quails but I feel like I did most the things right since the process is basically the same. Why aren't the brahma and orps hatching? And will the blue laced red still hatch? Thanks for anyone who reads this long thread.
