Brahma opened a can of whoop-butt on Alpha Hen!

LOL! My head hen is a 23 week old Barred Rock named Joon, she is assertive bordering aggresive lol. The Brahma's name is Monica and she is much bigger then Joon, but still runs from her and gets chased. Monica coops with two younger Wyandottes, and Joon bunks with her EE friend.

Well today it rained for the first time and the chickens were 'feeling their oats'. Joon went to chasing and pecking the two Wyandottes and Monica came RACING from the side and bodyslammed Joon! Then she puffed up and did her "BRING IT ON" stance. Joon looked shocked to say the least.. I was shocked myself! Monica hasn't laid yet, and she is VERY red today, so maybe the sudden maturity spike caused her to protect the Wyandottes. Whatever it was, it was the first time anybody stood up to Joon, and it was great to watch.

It was so funny to see her realize "Hey.. I am MUCH bigger then YOU! Twerp!" and she really made it clear lol! Joon was shocked, and my mouth did drop

it was great! She is looking real close to laying

she is so red I thought she was bleeding earlier and looked, but just her comb is very plump and red. She must have hit puberty like this morning! lol
