My Gypsy boy has raw looking legs. At first I thought his foot/leg feathers were molting but now I’m concerned he may have scaly leg mites. What do y’all think? What has worked best for you? So far everyone else has normal looking legs and feet. No new flock additions, everyone was raised together as day-olds.

Is there a possibility that some of the other chickens are plucking his leg feathers?

I had a farmer girlfriend ask me the same thing! It's definitely possible, but I haven't caught anyone pecking at him. He is gentle as far as roosters go, but still very in charge of his harem. I wonder if he gets breaks them mating or if they get picked while roosting at night.

It doesn't really look like mites to me, as the scales of the legs look normal, if a bit red.

That's comforting! I sprayed some vetricyn plus on it just now because he had a couple of spots bleeding after free ranging--right around new feather growth. I'm wondering if feather booster might help along with wound care.
