I've tried this question with silkies and found out silkies aren't for me.

Now my question is feather-footed birds like Cochins and brahmas. I've done a little research and found out that Parasites are a problem with these birds. Is this true? Are they high maintenance chickens? Any answers are appreciated.

I have not heard this. I would think they only high maintenance thing is the feathered feet, they get dirty in the mud and other things they step in.
They also would need shade & cool water in the summer, they are heavy breeds and they can get over heated and die.

Thanks! Is there anything else? Will I need to clean their feet? I don't mind them getting dirty, as long as it doesn't turn out to be a health issue.

Not unless you're showing them.

Or have a problem seeing chickens wearing dirty "bedroom slippers."

My Lt. Brahmas play in the mud with my pot bellied pig.. They haven't had any problems.

I have somewhere around 40 Brahmas of assorted colors and a half-dozen Cochins. I love them! They (the Brahmas) are friendly and loaded with personality. I love their clumsy big feet. I have never had a problem with parasites. They free range during the day and go into their coops at night. There is no extra maintenance. A couple of my favorites know their names and come when they are called. One of my dark Brahma hens is even housebroken and comes inside every day to lay her eggs. I highly recommend the breed - they are absolutely the best! The Cochins (at least mine) are not as friendly, but are still no problem. They are smaller than my Brahmas and again need no extra maintenance.

X2! I have a Cochin I have never had to do anything with her. She gets muddy feet, but at some point she always seems to go through a puddle to clean them off!

Thanks for all the replies, I think I'll probably go with these breeds.

My Brhmas and Cochins are sweet and super friendly. The 2 standard Cochin hens I have are VERY broody. They do not seem to like laying eggs, only brooding them. 3 hatches last spring all at 100% hatch.

I too, am planning on getting these two breeds (our first chicks ever in two weeks!!). I have two small children and have heard these breeds are really friendly and docile. I'm really excited! I love their leg feathers!!
